Nancy Jean's Story
After graduation I went to college (Greenbrier College in WV)and majored in Art and Equestrian. Which was a very small girls College. I was in a sorority, the Drama Club, and rode in a lot of Horse Shows reprerfsinting my College. And while there I did a two woman Play which was fun.
After college I made my debut and was asked to be Queen Of Mardi Gras in 1970. This was such an honor to be asked to Regine over Mobile as Queen. And meeting people and Dignitaries from different countries who were visiting the City. The best memory that I will always cherish is when a little girl come up to me with her Mother and asked "is she real, can I touch her?"
I married a Connecticut Yankee, Richard P. Carroll from New Haven. We had two Children and live up there for 33 year. Our Daughter (Maureen Anne) went to Roger Williams University, received a Bachelor's degree in Administration of Justice. And married in 2003 to Adam Jardine (the son of Al Jardine of the Beach Boys) in Positono, Italy. They now live in Carmel Valley, CA. Our Son (Ryan Turner) went to Southern University New Hampshire, with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He is living in Lake Tahoe, CA. He is in construction, loves to Snow Board, and is single at the moment.
We retired in 2007 and moved back to Mobile. I really HATED shoveling the snow and the COLD WEATHER, being a Southern Lady at heart. We went into New York City quite often. We lived so close to the ci...Expand for more
ty that we could see the smoke from the Twin Towers on 9/11. That was a very scary time in my life, since we were in the towers a week before in the observation deck. And on that day I had two relatives that were in the area for business and had to run across the Brooklynn Bridge to get to safety. WE were at my in-laws beach cottage when the first plane hit. We couldn't call out to let family know that we weren't in the city. They blocked all cell phone signals with-in 100 miles from New York City.
We have been traveling since we retired and are so happy to be back in Mobile.
If you met me today I am a little more outgoing and enjoy meeting or getting to know the people from when I lived here and those that missed. I enjoy Mardi Gras Balls, all crafts and art shows. You can tell if I am interested in a friendship or not. I am fairly laid back and take things more easy or unless it is something I feel uneasy with. And I will let your know.
I always wanted to be a Dog Trainer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a shy girl idea. As it turns out, they were wrong now that I have gotten from under Mother's thumb..
I go and get my journal and write what has gotten me in the wrong place. I ask to be in a better, happier place. With my higher power, God.
We have a second home close to Fort Morgan at Gulf Shores and found some class mates and renewed our friendship, so if you are in that area please look us up.
